Mac software for the 2017 Samsung Gear 360 now available!

The Mac desktop stitching software for the 2017 Samsung Gear 360 is now available!

Here is the link to the Mac software.
Here are the requirements for the software.

I don't know yet if the 2017 stitching software can also stitch photos and videos of the original Gear 360.

Samsung also posted the requirements for the PC version of the desktop software (Gear 360 Action Director 2).  In case you missed it, the link to the new Action Director software is here.  The new software can work with both the original and the new Gear 360.  The software can be activated with either the original Gear 360 or the 2017 Gear 360's serial number.

Meanwhile the 2017 Gear 360 is still pretty hard to find outside of Korea and parts of Europe.  However, you can buy it on eBay where reseller prices have dropped to as low as $260 (just $10 more than the MSRP).

Thank you very much to Axel Baumann of www.video-tv355.de for sharing this info!

    1. Hi Angel. My wife's SE also crashes a lot. But another reader's iphone 7 worked fine. So maybe there is some setting that works?

      Best regards,

  2. I'll have to take a look at this software over the weekend. Looking at the requirements, they seem pretty normal. The higher-end your Mac the easier and more quickly it will be able to "do what it does". This will be interesting.

  3. I tried stitching a video using the Mac software and the stitch was very bad. No problems with the PC version.

  5. Installed software; stitch is ok. The problem is that after installing this software I can't copy files from the Mac to my S6. Android File Transfer and other utilities say "Could not connect to device". Another Mac on which this software was not installed still works properly. Goog job Samsung !!

  6. Update: tried to boot my Mac with a backup where Gear 360 software was not installed yet... Was able to connect to my S6 and transfer files with no hassle ! Contacted Cybelink tech support, let's see what happens... (they don't even list Gear 360 software among their products !)

    1. This was the reply from Cybelink Tech support:

"Regarding your concern, I would like to inform you that apart from PhotoDirector and MakeupDirector, no other Cyberlink Software are supported under MAC OS platform. We can only provide support for PhotoDirector and MakeupDirector when executed under supported MAC OS platform. Please feel free to contact us back for any further clarification or for any assistance related to CyberLink Products. "

So, despite having the Cyberlink logo, the Mac Gear 360 software is not supported by its own makers.

      Kudos !

    2. That's just sad... I hold no hope that this software is going to work.

  7. I've got some trouble to install the Gear360 Software on a mac (El Capitan): There is a message that the monitor shall not be VGA compatible, what is nonsense. The installation on a iBook works however

  9. I downloaded and installed the Mac software, and it indeed works with the original Gear 360.

Unfortunately, it is very buggy and slow, so unless that is fixed, it's useless.

  10. Well, if you think that Mac version is buggy and slow you haven't seen the PC version ! After two weeks of continuos email exchanges and a bit of shouting I managed to get from CyberLink the uninstall procedure so I managed to get back access to other Android devices....
1 year ago the Gear 360 was the only camera with certain specs out there, now there's a much wider choice, so I think Samsung will go down the drain....

  11. I ended up taking the Gear back. I couldn't get the software to work without crashing... plus it took absolutely forever to stich before crashing and losing all of the time it took.

  12. I took back 5 of the gear 360 2017 devices. We are an apple shop and the device support was horrible at best.
